Celebrations 🥂🎉

Natalija started working on a new project and made progress with anxiety and stress management!

In her own words:

“I got a new project via people I worked before and it’s going to be interesting because this will be the first time I have any close contact to the blockchain, so I’m excited to learn more. Anxiety and stress management progress happened because I started making detailed to-do lists with time estimates for each task which helps me objectively review the amount of work I did and makes me feel like I “deserve” to rest at the end of the day.”

✨ Two Years. Two years seems like a long time, but when I think back on all that’s happened in two years and how I’ve changed, it’s hard to believe it’s only been two years. This picture is of me at Magic Kingdom (Disney World is my happy place) during my birthday. ✨ The Bree from two years ago was in the homestretch of completing training with Revature and waiting to see which company I would have the pleasure of working with. I was on the verge of becoming a paid software developer and I can’t even tell you how many emotions I went through. ✨ I was afraid that I wasn’t good enough. I was nervous that somehow my coworkers would see through me and just know that I wasn’t an expert. Most of all, there was a nagging feeling that all the work I put in wouldn’t allow me to reach my goal. Anxiety told me that going to college and studying to be a software engineer wasn’t right for me. ✨ Looking back on those emotions and thoughts, it’s hard to recognize myself. There are so many things I’ve learned while working that I never would have learned from a tutorial or a textbook. I’ve had the opportunity to work with new technology and an amazing company. I’ve also had failures and experiences that have molded me into the confident developer I am today. ✨ For anyone that is questioning themselves and you’re worried that you’re not going down the right path, stick with it. Give it your all – even when you’re afraid. Even when people tell you that you can’t. You may not see the progress you’re looking for today or tomrrow. When you take a step back and compare yourself to who you are now and who you were even a month ago, the changes will be evident.

Partner: my Self-Worth Strengthening Affirmations and Gratitude Prompts

We all struggle with self-doubt, the need for external validation and that inner critic that never seems to chill and let us be.

But I want you to remember that you are wonderful, unique and are bringing so much value in this world. Sometimes it just takes intentional work to recognise that – and we should all have habits in place that remind us of our own self-worth. Click here to download my list of Self-Worth Strengthening Affirmations and Gratitude Prompts!

Ashley says:

“This teaches women how to start their own WICS society and how to get sponsorships for it so they can grow the society and create bigger + better events by working with sponsors! I am Founder of WICS at St Andrew’s and I wanted to share the knowledge I gained along the way and things I wish I would have known when I was starting out! :)”

How Can Men Support Women in Tech – created and shared by me

I know many awesome men who want to support diversity and in particular women in tech, but don’t know where to start. Some say they don’t know how to approach it or that they are afraid to do or say the wrong thing. It can be hard to navigate being an advocate or an ally. So, I’ve decided to create this post specifically for those men.

Please let me know your thoughts in the comments below and if you’d like to share something for next week’s issue, here’s the submission form!! Bookmark that and add anything you’d like to share in there 🙂
