Introducing Code Recipes section + the first recipe!

I’ve always been fascinated by food blogs, I love cooking and trying new things, but I’ve never actually started one. Since cooking and recipe planning is a big part of our lives, I’ve had an idea of starting a section where I’d write about what I make in code! So this is my first post for the section “code recipes”.
This is a little unusual, I know, but I want to give it a go. What inspired me for this idea, was a quote by Grace Hopper (I originally posted the quote in this post), who said that programming is: “just like planning a dinner. You have to plan ahead and schedule everything so that it’s ready when you need it…. Women are ‘naturals’ at computer programming”.

So basically this is the other way around, cooking from the programming perspective 😉

For the last week and a half I’ve had a cold (one of the reasons why I didn’t post as much as I hoped to), so I’ve decided to use the tea recipe that I used as the first recipe for the code section. This recipe will be in pretend HTML and CSS, I thought it would be interesting to use the link between them for the “Ingredients” and the “Method” section. Bare in mind, a lot of what you’ll see (especially in the CSS part) are not real properties or values, but even if you don’t know these languages, you will probably (or hopefully) understand what’s going on 😉

So here we go:

Tea with Lemon, Ginger and Honey

Method (CSS):

And once again, let me repeat it <3

Quantities are entirely up to you

Ingredients:

  • Lemon
  • Ginger
  • Tea (whichever you prefer)
  • Honey

Method:

Ginger. Peel the ginger. I do it with a spoon because I once saw Jamie Oliver do that and it works so well! Cut it into small pieces, put it in a cup and pour hot water over it. You will use the water, so the longer you let it sit, the better.

Peeling ginger with a spoon works really well

Tea. When you think your ginger water is ready, make the tea.

Lemon. Squeeze out some lemon juice.

The drink. Combine tea, ginger water and lemon juice. Proportions are up to you, make it so that it tastes good to you. Obviously the more ginger and lemon there is, the better 😉

Honey. And the last stage, take your favourite honey (my favourite is orange blossom yum!) and put it in your drink. You can mix it in to make it sweeter or dip the spoon and eat the honey this way, which is also delicious 😉

Drink and enjoy!

This drink is full of powerful elements to fight off any cold and the more you drink you better 🙂

Please let me know what you think about my new section “code recipes”, I’d love to make it interesting and useful for you! As I’m learning how to code, maybe I’ll start using other languages too 🙂 this is super exciting!
